BENEDICT A.
KOLITA APPOINTED BY GOVERNOR TAFT
TO
SERVE ON LOCAL SCHOOL COMMISSION
The Ohio Department of Education announced today that BENEDICT
A. KOLITA, a Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), had been
appointed by Governor Bob Taft to serve on
the Financial
Planning and Supervision Commission for the Mentor Exempted
Village School District.
The commission will oversee
the finances of the Mentor school district which State of Ohio Auditor
Betty Montgomery recently declared to be in fiscal emergency / state
receivership.
The commission has five voting members who will work
with the school district to develop a financial recovery plan that
eliminates the conditions causing Fiscal Emergency. The commission must
submit the financial recovery plan to the superintendent of public
instruction for her approval. In order to implement the recovery plan,
the commissions may assume all or part of the financial management
responsibilities of the local board of education and administrators.
Mentor Public Schools are located 25 miles east of
Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. Mentor school district employs
1,100 people who serve 11,000 students. There are 12 elementary schools,
three junior high schools and one high school. Mentor is the fourteenth
largest district in Ohio
Mr. Kolita has been providing accounting, tax, audit and business valuation services to the Lake County business community from offices located in Mentor Ohio for the past seventeen years. Currently, Kolita & Company has a staff of ten professional accountants.
